So many interesting things have been occurring lately. One of these are people’s sexual orientation. And the most common thing really is that a lot of people attribute it to being ‘born that way’. In fact pop culture, the media, etc has helped us promote the anthem. “I was born gay” and so many other things that people may be born as or with.
While sometimes it’s not really clear what the cause or reason for ones ‘orientation’ is, there’s one thing that I know as a Christian…and that is After the fall of Adam, it didn’t take long before all the gender confusion and all other disordered desires that perplex the world today started. Well here’s the thing, every one of us is born with disordered desires that need to be subdued. Some just different from others. “We are all born in and with sin”. In fact we are born into a sinful world. So if the Bible says that homosexuality is a sin or changing/altering your gender is a sin and you find out that you are ‘gay’ or you’re a male but your ‘soul is female’ and you think you’re born that way, well truth is you were most likely born that way. Some ‘Christians’ may not agree but hey I live for truth so I’ll tell it. Yes you may have been born that way. Simply because you were born with a sinful nature. By no fault of your own, here’s how and why:
When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam’s sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned. Yes, people sinned even before the law was given. But it was not counted as sin because there was not yet any law to break. Still, everyone died—from the time of Adam to the time of Moses—even those who did not disobey an explicit commandment of God, as Adam did.
So even though, we did not eat the forbidden fruit, by default we were sinners.
However, theres great news! We’ve been saved from the power of sin and death and here’s how:
Now Adam is a symbol, a representation of Christ, who was yet to come. But there is a great difference between Adam’s sin and God’s gracious gift. For the sin of this one man, Adam, brought death to many. But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and his gift of forgiveness to many through this other man, Jesus Christ. And the result of God’s gracious gift is very different from the result of that one man’s sin. For Adam’s sin led to condemnation, but God’s free gift leads to our being made right with God, even though we are guilty of many sins.
So you see, there’s a way out of sin and that’s Jesus Christ, since before we were made sinners by Adams actions even better we are saved from sin by Christ’s action and so God gave us this gift freely but what do you do with a gift? That’s right, we receive it. If we don’t receive it we cant enjoy the gift.
For the sin of this one man, Adam, caused death to rule over many. But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and his gift of righteousness, for all who receive it will live in triumph over sin and death through this one man, Jesus Christ
So, you can win sin! Most of what’s happening is not new, but there’s a way out of it. That way is to receive Christ and believe in the finished work of the cross by being BORN AGAIN. No it’s not a Christian cliché. It’s a reality that connects you to the lineage of Christ.
Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Nicodemus said to Him, ‘How can a man be born when he is old? He cannot enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born, can he?’ Jesus answered, ‘Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
Being Born Again is to be born a new creature, putting on the new life, (new body, new spirit, and new soul). It’s not like having an old glass and rinsing it, it’s having a new glass entirely. Or better yet not like fixing a broken glass, it’s throwing the pieces in the bin and getting a new glass. We get this new life by the word and that’s what the water represents, the word of God. It has the ability to wash us to newness and give us a new spirit, which is of God, so we don’t just go back to sinful ways (I will expand on this in another post). When you have that new glass oh sorry I mean life you fill it up with the word of God, which constantly keeps us a-new! To remain new is to remain with the word, that’s what clears all those nasty thoughts, ungodly desires from us. OTHERWISE:
James 1:15 Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.
What usually happens is that the devil tries to hide this good news from us and keep us where we are by making us say things like “I was born this way so there’s nothing I can do about it” or the interesting one is “Don’t judge me, you’re not perfect yourself”.
2Corinthians 4:4 Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don’t understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God.
Please I admonish Christians not to be ashamed or scared of preaching the Gospel which is the good news because it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes. Just like how there are evil spells that when cast on someone makes them start acting in a particular way, there’s also good spells that you cast on someone that changes their thought pattern and behavior, and that good spell is the ‘Gospel’, that’s what it means. Lets cast it 🙂
Stand for the truth at all times with love and kindness without condemnation. The world needs our earnest prayers! coz the devil is really busy! I mean the rate in which Sin is being condoned, even commended. Lets not allow the devil continue to manipulate us through different means to the extent we now applaud sin.
Yeah we may still have things we struggle with but the truth is we don’t get a pat on the back for it or we are not called ‘hero’ or ‘brave’ for it. Sinning is not Bravery. Neither is telling the world you’re a sinner bravery. Admitting ones sin and asking for forgiveness, now THAT is bravery.
“ I refuse to be a slave to sin”. That’s what God wants us to know and say because Christ has redeemed us. And now I am connected to God through Christ So I can tell sin NO because of the price Christ paid. Lets not let our desire to continue in sin make us give excuses like “He who is without sin should cast the first stone”. Honestly, no one is casting a stone here, just saying that the ‘way you were born’ is not the way God expects you to remain forever as we now have access to new birth/life. That’s the importance of being BORN AGAIN and that’s the good news I’m sharing, because God knew that your first natural birth came with baggage.
So theres no judgment here. The truth is often offensive, but we cannot let the fear of offending someone get in the way of loving them.
John 3: 17-18
God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.
“There is no judgment against anyone who believes in him. But anyone who does not believe in him has already been judged for not believing in God’s one and only Son. And the judgment is based on this fact: God’s light came into the world, but people loved the darkness more than the light, for their actions were evil.
I’ll round this up with this:
Either way, Christ’s love controls us. Since we believe that Christ died for all, we also believe that we have all died to our old life. He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them.
So we have stopped evaluating others from a human point of view. At one time we thought of Christ merely from a human point of view. How differently we know him now! This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!
And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him. For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to Himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation. So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!” For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.
