The Nigerian Elections: My letter of Peace

How do I explain this? It almost seems like I’m in another world because I have been so engrossed in work and other great projects that I haven’t even felt the ‘pressure’ or ‘tension’ (so to say) of the election. Infact I have never been this engrossed in anything especially at a time like this, where people are in a state of panic or disarray or fear. I said to myself “but Kemi, people are running out of the state or even country, or those that have remained are scared of something or someone that may or may not even exist, people are stocking up their houses not necessarily out of caution but out of fear, and you are pretty busy going about your business like you’re not even in the same country”.

And suddenly it hit me, …one word… PEACE. Now, very importantly it shouldn’t be confused with the ‘I don’t care’ attitude that some may exhibit, far from it. I honestly care about the wellbeing of this nation (like I know a lot of us do).

But this peace only comes when we align ourselves with God without wavering. He calms every storm when one is constantly walking with him. The God-given Peace. The Peace that surpasses the human mind, one cannot comprehend. The kind that one will think you crazy or call you foolish or even silly for having. That’s what I have. There is this stillness and calm about everything. That’s whats on me, PEACE. Regardless of whatever it is that’s going on around me, that peace has been planted in my spirit. I fear nothing because God is inside of me. This happens when you align yourself with God through prayer and constant communication with Him. I do not say this to be boastful but I just want to share my peace experience with, as many as possible and let them know that they too can have that peace.

So, this is just a sweet message with great words of advice and encouragement to my fellow Nigerians as the election draws nigh (lol its here already). Please be watchful and prayerful. Knowing that the one who watches over you is the most high. Almighty God. He doesn’t sleep neither does he slumber. He’s promised to give his angels charge over you and your household.

A passage that should give you peace:

Psalm 91 is one of the most popular scriptures but is it really understood?

He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty”. It’s interesting isn’t it? What is? Well, that there’s a ‘secret place’ of the most high. LOL. The secret place of the Most high is the point of mystical union between man and Spirit which is God in us, wherein we no longer believe, but know, that God in Christ abides always at the center of our being as our perfect health, deliverance, prosperity, power and PEACE, ready to come forth into manifestation at any moment we claim/declare it. And that whoever dwells with Christ ‘SHALL’ “ABIDE” meaning, continually live, dwell, stay under the SHADOW of God Almighty. From the understanding of Shadows we know that it is only where you are present that your shadow can be present, which means his covering is there. So in essence if you are living with God continually (through your spirit in faith with prayer and worship) you will enjoy his presence, which has a covering over you amongst other things.

Verse 2: This I declare about the LORD: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him.

You have to declare the things that you know God is to you, in order for it to be made manifest. Instead of saying ill things or speaking out of fear, declare these words, letting him know that it is Him you rely on…knowing that as you dwell… (verse 3-8)

“Surely” he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection. You will not be afraid of the terror by night, Or of the arrow that flies by day Or the disease that stalks in darkness, nor the disaster that strikes at midday. Though a thousand fall at your side, though ten thousand are dying around you, these evils will not touch you. You will only see it with your eyes and witness the punishment of the wicked.

Verse 9-13. Now “Because” you have made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, your habitation (your dwelling place); no evil shall be allowed to befall you and no plague will come near your home. For He will give His angels orders concerning you, to protect you in all your ways.

You will trample upon lions and cobras; you will crush fierce lions and serpents under your feet!

Now this is what God himself says ( Verse 14-16):

Because he has focused his love on me,

I will deliver him.

I will protect him because he knows my name.

When he calls out to me, I will answer him.

I will be with him in his distress.

I will deliver him, and I will honor him.

I will satisfy him with long life

I will show him my deliverance.

Isnt this amazing? To know that if we seek God and abide with him, we are protected. This is enough to give you peace. You should give yourself to him entirely, yield to him and call on his name. The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous man runs into it and is safe (Proverbs 18:10).

Don’t be afraid, Don’t be anxious:

Philippians 4:6-7

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

The lord will give peace to us amidst any manipulation of the evil one as long as you are living in Christ Jesus. The peace that he alone gives defies human reasoning or understanding. It’s like when people are supposed to be worried you’ll be calm because he’s your peace. Put all your worries and cares on Him because He cares, His yoke is easy and His burden is light. Just pray fervently. Walk in the knowledge and wisdom of God and be watchful. Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere. (Ephesians 6:18)

Someone said: God needs not to be told our wants or desires; he knows them better than we do; but he will have us show that we value the mercy, and feel our dependence on him. The peace of God, the comfortable sense of being reconciled to God, and having a part in his favour, and the hope of the heavenly blessedness, are a greater good than can be fully expressed. This peace will keep our hearts and minds through Christ Jesus; it will keep us from sinning under troubles, and from sinking under them; keep us calm and with inward satisfaction.

God loves to display his faithfulness. Don’t be worried for Nigeria instead pray to God about it because essentially you are Nigeria, I am Nigeria. He will show himself faithful. Declare great things concerning the nation because anything you say concerning Nigeria you say concerning yourself. The Government of Nigeria is upon God’s shoulders so he’s carrying us through this election. No evil shall stop us.

God cares about Nigeria. So nothing shall disrupt Gods plan for us as a nation.

As you cast your vote. Don’t look at it as ordinary. Speak to your vote. Send it on an assignment. Declare the word of God on your vote and say that the council of the evil one shall not stand. And whomever God will use to bless this nation will stand. Your vote becomes the vote of the Lord and whatever is associated with God wins. This election is no exception.

Don’t lose confidence in God in this time because it has a great reward.

Don’t let fear in. It’s a dangerous spirit.

Speak words of life. At this time, the devil wants us to live in fear simply because its his main tool of destruction and it takes our focus away from our God, but lets not allow that. Lets focus on God and peace is ours. Declare Gods word because that’s your sword. Be mindful of what you say especially in this period. God wants us to speak his word and they shall not fall on empty ground. It shall fulfil its purpose.

John 14:27

I am leaving you with a gift–peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid
